Iranian short film ‘The Recess’ directed by Navid Nikkhah Azad won Best Short Film Award of Fundación Charlot in the Festival International De Cine De DosQuebradas (FICDOS).
The short film represented Iranian cinema in the festival with the Spanish title ‘El Recreo’ and won Best Short Film Award.
A sum of 250 short films competed in this category to win the best short film award, according to the festival.
‘The Recess’ tells the story of 17-year-old Sahar, who is determined to watch her favorite soccer team play for the league championship. Barred from attending sports events as a woman, Sahar disguises herself as a boy with the help of her friends and things take a tragic turn as it is uncovered.
The short film has been screened in 46 international film festivals, winning seven awards.
