“I have the honor to congratulate the Leader on behalf of myself and the Islamic Jihad forces as well as its armed wing Quds Brigades on the victory of the Palestinian people and their brave resistance against the Zionist enemy,” Al-Nakhala wrote in a letter to the Leader on Saturday.
He added that Ayatollah Khamenei’s "constant, continued and open support" for Palestine in all fields has played the most important and leading role in Operation Sword of al-Quds and its subsequent achievements.”
"Despite the enemy’s military upper hand, the Resistance combatants entered the battlefield with full power, strength, bravery and courage," Al-Nakhala went on to say.
He said the Palestinian people and Resistance defeated the enemies and disclosed the image of the Israeli regime which is "weaker than a spider web."
The Palestinian official also thanked the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Qods Force for standing by the Islamic Jihad forces for long and for sincerely providing them with any capability, know-how and assistance leading to such a great victory.
He especially marked the late commander of the IRGC Qods Force Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, who was martyred near Baghdad airport, Iraq, on January 3, 2020 in a drone strike upon former US president Donald Trump’s direct order.
The Israeli regime announced a unilateral ceasefire starting at 2 a.m. on Friday, which was accepted by the Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza with Egyptian mediation.
Israel’s latest bombardment of the Gaza Strip since May 10 has killed at least 248 people, including 66 children and 39 women.
More than 1,900 Palestinians have also been injured in the Israeli airstrikes that have targeted the coastal enclave’s infrastructure, destroying homes, roads, medical facilities, schools, power lines and sanitation and sewage systems across the impoverished territory, which has been under Israel’s siege for more than a decade.
