Priest of the Eastern Assyrian Church of Urmia in northwestern Iranian province of West Azarbaijan, Dariyavush Azizian, says that participation in the upcoming election is a symbol of solidarity and coherence in the country.
Azizian said participation in the election is an important religious duty.
Difference in viewpoints should not hinder participation in the election, the priest noted.
Iran’s 13th presidential election will be held simultaneously with the sixth round of municipal council elections for the cities and villages, the first mid-term for 11th round of parliamentary by-election, and the second mid-term for the fifth round of Assembly of Experts' election on June 18.
On May 25, Iran’s Ministry of Interior released the names of seven presidential hopefuls who have been qualified by the Guardian Council.
