Iran's Deputy Judiciary Chief for International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi said indictment for over 40 perpetrators of the Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani assassination will be submitted to Tehran Court of Justice and the court will be held before the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2022).
Gharibabadi said a lawsuit has been filed in Iraq as the country in which the crimes has been committed.
He noted that a 300-page document including information about the 70 defendants and suspects has been presented to the Iraqi side.
He added that Iraq has also presented information on the defendants to Iran.
He described the US as flag-bearer of the terrorist act, holding former US President Donald Trump and the US officials responsible for the terrorist act.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Gharibabadi criticized the international bodies for their silence against this crime.
US terrorists assassinated General Soleimani, the commander of the Qods Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the former commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), along with their companions by targeting their vehicles outside Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020, at the direct order from US President Donald Trump.
