In a meeting with the Director General of the International Labor Organization, recalling the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran as one of the founding countries of the ILO, the Secretary-General of the High Council for Human Rights explained Iran's measures in the field of protecting and promoting the rights of workers and their families.
 

HCHR_ Kazem Gharibabadi, the Vice-President of the Judiciary for International Affairs and the Secretary-General of the High Council for Human Rights, in a meeting with Gilbert. F. Hongbo, Director General of the International Labor Organization, referring to the importance of Iran for this organization and the importance of its non-political nature, emphasized that the ILO should continue with its technical and non-political approach.

In this meeting, recalling the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran as one of the founding countries of the International Labor Organization, the Secretary General explained Iran's actions in the field of protecting and promoting the rights of workers and their families.

Pointing out to the unilateral sanctions against Iran and its impact on people's lives, including workers and their families, the Vice President of the Judiciary called for the International Labor Organization to pay special attention to this issue.

In another part of his speech, the Secretary General of the HCHR condemned the crimes and killing of the people of Gaza by the usurping Zionist regime and stated: “Such barbaric actions that have led to the martyrdom of innocent people, some of whom are workers and their families, requires the serious action by ILO.

Gharibabadi also announced his readiness to develop relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the International Labor Organization.

The Director General of the International Labor Organization also appreciated the measures taken in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the supporting role of this organization.
He stated: “A report has been submitted to the International Labor Organization regarding the unfortunate situation in Gaza, and the annual report is being compiled to be presented to the special meeting in June 2024”.

While welcoming the development of relations between Iran and the International Labor Organization, Hongbo expressed his desire to visit Iran in the near future.

As one of the founders of the International Labor Organization, Iran has been a member of the organization since its establishment in 1919 and has been a member of the board of directors of this organization since 1986. Also, since 1986, Iran has been responsible for the coordination of the Asia-Pacific Group with the membership of 48 countries for 7 periods.
