The Secretary General of the High Council for Human Rights of the I.R. of Iran and the Vice President of the Judiciary for International Affairs said: “Imam's view was always to respect and ensure the rights of the people; what is called human rights today. Not only respecting the rights of the people of Iran who belong to the Shia religion, but also respecting the rights of followers of other inspirational religions has always been the concern of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution. We have several statements from the Imam (PBUH) about respecting the rights of religious minorities and everyone who lives in Iranian society”.
HCHR_ Kazem Gharibabadi, the Secretary General of the HCHR, in an interview with Jamaran reporter, pointing out that Imam Khomeini (PBUH) is the founder of supporting the oppressed nations of the world, said: “Without Imam Khomeini's (PBUH) tact about the oppressed Palestinian nation in more than four decades ago, today we wouldn’t witness this amount of alertness and awakening of nations in Islamic and non-Islamic countries in this regard”.
Regarding the relationship between Imam Khomeini's (PBUH) logic and the Palestinian Ideal, Gharibabadi said: “Imam Khomeini (PBUH) is the founder of supporting the oppressed nations of the world, especially the oppressed Palestinian nation. Imam named the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as the "Quds Day" and today we are witnessing that nations not only in Islamic countries but also in non-Islamic countries have stood up in support of the oppressed Palestinian nation”.
The Vice President of the Judiciary for International Affairs emphasized: “This is nothing but the lofty ideals that Imam Khomeini (PBUH) explained about supporting the oppressed Palestinian nation, and this issue is of great importance. Without Imam Khomeini's tact regarding the oppressed Palestinian nation more than four decades ago, we would not witness this amount of vigilance and awakening of nations in Islamic and non-Islamic countries regarding this issue today. We hope that a day will come when the world, not only the Palestinian nation, will get rid of the usurping and criminal Zionist regime”.
In response to a question about Imam Khomeini’s view of human rights, Gharibabadi said: “Imam's view was always to respect and ensure human rights and people's rights; what is called human rights today. We have numerous statements from the Imam (PBUH) about respecting not only the rights of the people of Iran who belong to the Shia religion, but also the rights of other Islamic religions and religious minorities and everyone who lives in Iranian society”.
Gharibabadi continued: “Imam Khomeini (PBUH) has a comprehensive and holistic view on human rights; that is, not only in the Islamic Republic regarding the support and promotion of our own people, but he also have the same view in the international community. Of course, when we review the statements of the Imam, he has always criticized the criminal U.S. and its allies in the field of human rights and have introduced them as oppressors and violators of the rights of nations”.
