Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Chief of Judiciary for International Affairs and Secretary of the High Council for Human Rights, has called for the immediate intervention of an international investigative body to examine atrocities committed by Zionist military forces at the secret Sde Teiman Prison.
In a letter addressed to the President of the UN Human Rights and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Gharibabadi expressed grave concerns about the treatment of Palestinian prisoners in this clandestine detention facility.
He described the prison as a "hidden and horrific" site where detainees are subjected to severe physical and psychological torture, sexual assaults, and blatant violations of human rights. Many of these prisoners have reportedly been killed and brutally mutilated, all while their pleas go unheard and unanswered.
Gharibabadi criticized Western media, particularly American outlets, for their failure to adequately cover these horrific events, attributing this negligence to the protective policies of their respective governments towards the Zionist regime. He also condemned the United Nations' human rights bodies and experts for their inaction in recognizing and addressing the urgency and necessity of countering these crimes.
The Iranian Human Rights Headquarters reiterated its condemnation of the Zionist regime's crimes against humanity and acts of genocide in Gaza and Rafah, highlighting the atrocities at the Sde Teiman Prison.
The letter called on the United Nations to take the following actions:
Urgent UN Human Rights Council Meeting: Convene an emergency session of the UN Human Rights Council to address the crimes of the Zionist regime and establish a special mechanism for investigating and documenting these criminal acts in the occupied territories, including the desert prison.
The letter also urged for the prosecution of those responsible in international courts and domestic tribunals.
International Investigation Team: Facilitate the entry of a special international investigative team into the Sedeh Tayman prison. This team should include UN human rights experts, researchers, legal professionals, and independent international media to investigate the conditions of the prisoners and document the human rights violations occurring within this secret facility.
Gharibabadi's letter reflects Iran's ongoing efforts to hold the Zionist regime accountable for its actions and to draw global attention to what it describes as grave violations of human rights.
