Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs announced: The Iranian citizen, whom the US government had requested to be extradited from the Netherlands on the grounds of evading sanctions, will return to the country within the next hour after rejecting the extradition request.
Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, wrote in a message on X: With the follow-up of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Judiciary and the IRGC Intelligence Organization, Mehdi Kiasti, an Iranian citizen, whom the US government had requested to be extradited from the Netherlands on the grounds of evading sanctions, will return to the country within the next hour after rejecting the extradition request.
In 2022, when he was the Secretary of the Judiciary’s High Council for Human Rights, Gharibabadi had consulted with Franciscus Johan Maria Molen, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Tehran, for the release of this Iranian citizen.
