Speaking in a meeting with Head of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs Simonetta Di Pippo, Dehqani said Iran attaches importance to UNOOSA's mission and has active participation in this regard.
The development and protection of international space law, the peaceful use of the outer space without discrimination, the exploitation of small satellites and fair access to the Earth's orbit are among the issues which are raised in this committee, he added.
He went on to say that UNOOSA is playing important role in promoting space cooperation among governments namely through scientific, technical fields and transfer of technology and equipment.
Iran expects UNOOSA to pay special attention to newcomer governments in space field especially thanks to US unilateral and illegal sanctions.
Regarding the UNOOSA cooperation for holding the first joint workshop to exploit space technology on natural disaster management in 2015, Iran is ready to hold the second round of the event in Tehran in early 2020.
Meanwhile, Di Pippo elaborated on modification of UNOOSA's agenda, saying UNOOSA has constructive cooperation with Iran.
She also hailed holding the second round of the natural disaster management workshop in Iran.
